White Coat Ceremony – First year MBBS Departments

White Coat Ceremony of the inaugural MBBS Batch of BGS Medical College Hospital, held on November 7, 2024. This landmark event marks the beginning of a remarkable journey for our future doctors. The White Coat Ceremony was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including: Principal, Dr. K.S.Gangadhara and Chief of Hospital (CoH), Dr. Krishnamurthy VR. Their esteemed presence added significance to this momentous occasion.The ceremony was gracefully led by Dr. Anu Mohandas, Associate Professor in Community Medicine, who served as the Master of Ceremony. The event began with a heartfelt invocation by Dr. Nagashree M V, Head of the Department of Anatomy, setting a serene tone for the ceremony. This was followed by a warm welcome to all present, delivered by Dr. Jyothi S, Head of the Department of Physiology.

In a symbolic gesture marking the inauguration, the dignitaries watered a plant, embodying growth and new beginnings. Along with this a poignant tribute to the revered founder of our institution Sri Sri Sri Dr. Balagangadharanatha Mahaswamiji and Chairman Sri Sri Sri Dr. Nirmalanandanatha Mahaswamiji by the Principal and Chief of Hospital set the tone for the ceremony, reminding us of the institution’s rich heritage and commitment to excellence in medical education . Then came the highlight of the ceremony – the distribution of white coats to the students, a time-honored tradition symbolizing their commitment to the medical profession. Principal Dr. Gangadhara K S and Chief of Hospital Dr. Krishnamurthy VR personally presented the coats, signifying the students’ initiation into the medical community. Following this, Principal Dr. Gangadhar led the students in the administration of the Charaka Shapath, an oath embodying the ethical values and responsibilities of the medical profession.

Chief of Hospital Dr. Krishnamurthy then addressed the students, emphasizing the profound significance of wearing the white coat. The students shared reflections on their experiences during their first two weeks on campus, recounting moments of excitement, learning, and growth.The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Mallikarjun Suligavi, Associate Professor of Biochemistry, expressing gratitude to all who made the day possible.
