Mission

Arranging periodic awareness and outreach programs related to psychiatric disorders.

Initiating and sustaining of special clinics like addiction, geriatric, sexual disorders, student counseling etc for the benefit of diverse issues of population

Encouraging and guiding undergraduates towards academic excellence and research discipline

Establishing PG courses and subsequently other allied courses related to mental health in order to meet the dynamic community needs.

Psychiatry

The department of Psychiatry at AIMS has evolved over a period of time since the institution began and has reached a stage wherein it has set a bench mark in undergraduate medical education by coming up with a AIMS model of teaching psychiatry which is cited by others.

While medical education is its forte with students bringing laurels to the institution in various quizzes, student presentations and literature related to psychiatry, the department is also known for its genuine clinical care, good consultation liaison with other departments and patient education initiatives.

In recent times, it is appreciated for its innovations in teaching learning methodology adopted while equally getting credits for initiating digitalization of patient records and streamlining of departmental administration & research activities.

It houses a theme-based demonstration room for academic activities, EEG & Biofeedback room, privacy ensuring consultation cabins and a resourceful library with enviable collection of books/ e-books. The clinical services offered range from deaddiction services, women mental health care, child psychiatry, in patient & outpatient care for common psychiatric disorders, ECT, biofeedback, student counselling services, memory clinic for the elderly and so on.

With various other initiatives at hand, the department is destined to expand this page while marching towards its mission.

Receive funds and coordinate with concerned national/international agencies for upgrading standards of academics and research
