Under the theme of “Yoga for Self & Society,” BGS Medical College, in collaboration with the Department of Swasthavritta & Yoga Therapy, AAMC, organized a 21-day Yoga training program from June 3 to June 20, 2024. Over 50 college staff members enthusiastically participated in the sessions, reaping the benefits of Yoga.

The program culminated in the International Day of Yoga celebrations on June 21, 2024, held at the campus grounds.

On 21st of June, International Day of Yoga took off with Naada Geete and inauguration by Dr. Gangadhar, Dean, BGS Medical College Hospital, Dr Krishnamurthy, Chief of Hospital, Dr Bhairesh, Principal, AAMC, Dr Shanthakuar, Principal BGS PU College, Mrs. Bharati Jetwani, Principal, BGS World School and Dr Sahana, Yoga Instructor, Associate professor, AAMC.

Over 500 enthusiastic yoga participants from the faculties of BGS-MCH, AAMC and students of AAMC, BGS PU college and BGS world School practiced the Yoga protocol. After the Yoga Protocol, International Day of Yoga was addressed by the dignitaries. All the speakers universally emphasized the importance of incorporating Yoga into daily life to maintain a calm mind and a healthy body.

Dr. Gangadhar highlighted that regular Yoga practice can reduce stress, enhance strength, balance, and flexibility, and improve focus and concentration, leading to overall well-being through postural exercises, breathing techniques, and meditation. Dr. Byresh, paying homage to the traditional masters, emphasized that Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition, which we must strive to preserve through regular practice. Dr. Krishnamurthy underscored that Yoga is a holistic approach to individual health and well-being, adding that new generation ailments such as obesity and musculoskeletal diseases can benefit from specialized and customized Yoga therapies available today.

This was followed by prize distribution to the winners who had participated in various competition such as Essay writing, Reel making etc for the event. The program concluded with vote of thanks by Student Ms. Nagachimayee Rani and with National anthem
