The Department of Psychiatry observed the World Suicide Prevention Day on the 10th of September, 2024 under the guidance of our Dean Dr. K S Gangadhara sir and Chief Of Hospital Dr V R Krishnamurthy sir. On account of the same an awareness talk was conducted by Dr Pooja R Raikar addressing the adolescents studying at the BGS PU college where around 400 students were involved in an interactive session. Poster competition was also conducted emphasizing on the triennial theme for ‘World Suicide Prevention Day 2024-26’ that is “Changing the Narrative on Suicide” with the call to action “Start the Conversation” aiming to raise awareness about the importance of reducing stigma and encouraging open conversations to prevent suicides.
The competition was judged by the faculty from BGS MCH, Dr Shubha Praveen, Professor and HOD from the Department of Pharmacology and Dr Venkatesh P Professor from the Department of Preventive and Social Medicine and the students with best posters were awarded with prizes. Dr. Anusha M N from the Department of Psychiatry also delivered the talk at Basaveswara PU College situated at Nelamangala discussing with about 200 students about their role in prevention of suicide. Importance of detection of warning signs of suicidality and timely referrals to professionals was made prominent during the interactive session.
Department of Ophthalmology and Pediatrics in association with the Indian Academy of Pediatrics, Mandya Branch organized Resident Guest Lectures on the topic of Childhood Blindness.
